
A woman was killed and another person injured Thursday afternoon after being mauled by two pit bulls at a public park.
The attack occurred around 2:30 p.m. at Perris Hill Park in the 1100 block of East Highland Avenue.
Officers responded to reports of a dog attack and were confronted by two aggressive pit bulls. One dog lunged at a victim and police fired, killing the animal.
Both victims suffered severe injuries and were taken to the hospital. One woman died from her injuries, while the other’s condition remains unknown.
Animal control is assisting in the investigation. Authorities have not released the identities of the victims or the dog owners.
