8-Year-Old Injured by Mookie Betts’ Foul Ball at Dodgers Game

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 19, 2024) — An 8-year-old boy was injured by a foul ball during Friday night’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds at Dodger Stadium.
In the fourth inning, Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts hit a foul ball into the crowd, striking Nathan Sanchez in the right eye. The Sanchez family, visiting from Lynwood, had hoped to catch a foul ball, with Nathan bringing his glove in excitement.
Sitting between home plate and first base, Nathan was hit directly in the face by the ball. Stadium security and medical personnel quickly responded, and a nearby doctor assisted Nathan.
After a check-up, Nathan and his family returned to the game. A good Samaritan later retrieved the foul ball and gave it to Nathan, lifting his spirits. Despite some stickers and a button from staff, the family hoped for more communication from the Dodgers about the Mookie Betts foul ball injury.
