Santa Clara, CA – A 29-year-old mother-to-be lost her life in a three-vehicle collision on New Year’s Day in Gilroy. The California Highway Patrol said it happened around 6:37pm on Leavesley Road, east of New Avenue.
A 50-year-old man driving a 2008 GMC truck allegedly crossed into the westbound lane, striking a 2023 Chevrolet SUV and then crashing into a 2020 Honda sedan. The pregnant Gilroy woman killed, riding in the Chevrolet, expired at the scene. Authorities have not released her name as of this writing.
Officials suspect alcohol contributed to the wreck. Investigators believe the GMC’s speed played a role in the deadly impact. First responders arrived quickly, but details regarding other injuries remain unclear. The case remains under investigation.
