LOS ANGELES, CA – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in the Arlington Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles on Jan. 29.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident happened around 9 p.m. when a male victim was crossing Venice Boulevard near St. Andrews Place in a marked crosswalk.
The suspect, driving westbound on Venice Boulevard, struck the victim with such force that the person’s body was dragged underneath the vehicle for several blocks before being dislodged.
The driver continued fleeing the scene without stopping, leaving the pedestrian on the road. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a light-colored SUV or crossover, though no description of the driver has been released. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
LAPD reminds motorists to stop and report collisions immediately. A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information that leads to the suspect’s arrest.
