Over 40 current and former students at Malibu High School are under investigation following an overnight “senior prank” that resulted in tens of thousands of dollars in property damage, according to school officials and local authorities.
The incident occurred between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., during which vandals super-glued locks on 20 classroom doors, spray-painted explicit messages and images on walls, broke furniture, and pushed a golf cart down a staircase, causing significant damage.
In an official news release, Superintendent Dr. Antonio Shelton of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District condemned the acts as criminal, stating that those responsible will face prosecution and be required to pay restitution.
The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station is actively investigating the incident, reviewing campus surveillance footage to identify the individuals involved.
Despite the disruption, the school’s graduation ceremony is scheduled to proceed as planned on June 11.
