A man has died and three others were hospitalized following a head-on crash that took place north of the 121 and state Highway 37 intersection in Sonoma County.
Authorities said the incident happened north of the intersection of State Highway 121 and Highway 37, when a Lexus RX-450h traveling southbound crossed the center line and struck a northbound Toyota Venza carrying the woman and her two children.
The impact of the crash ignited the Lexus, prompting emergency responders to quickly extract all occupants from both vehicles. All four individuals were transported to nearby hospitals with serious injuries.
The male driver of the Lexus died approximately one hour after arriving at the hospital. The woman and her children, whose ages have not been released, remain in critical condition.
Officials have not yet determined what caused the Lexus to veer into oncoming traffic. The crash remains under investigation.
