FRESNO COUNTY, CA – A deadly single-vehicle accident in Fresno County on Saturday night left one man dead and three others injured. Authorities say the crash was caused in part by alcohol.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded around 7:15 p.m. to Trimmer Springs Road, just north of Lakeview Avenue. A white GMC truck heading southbound was reportedly speeding and failed to handle a curve, veering off the roadway and plunging down a steep embankment. The truck rolled several times before stopping against a tree nearly 200 feet from the road.
A 40-year-old male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and two other passengers suffered minor to moderate injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital.
CHP confirmed that the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash. He is facing felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter charges and will be booked into the Fresno County Jail once released from the hospital.
