A person was killed following an accident between a street sweeper and a big rig that took place on the south of Highway 99 off-ramp to Lathrop Road in Manteca Monday morning.
The crash happened at about 8:27 a.m. The truck was parked on the right outside of traffic lanes when a street sweeper suddenly slammed into it from behind at a speed of 40 mph.
The driver of the street sweeper was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time and was extricated with major injuries and later died at the hospital. The occupant of the big rig is uninjured.
