
SACRAMENTO, CA – David Alison Walker, 71, of Fair Oaks, was arrested after fleeing the scene of a fatal hit-and-run in West Sacramento that claimed the lives of two 17-year-old girls, Layla Chrissa Clemons and Jaea Chatman. The crash occurred Saturday around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Bevan Road.
According to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office, Walker was intoxicated, driving without a license, and behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle. He was arrested on Sunday with help from the Vacaville Police Department.
Walker is facing seven felony charges and one misdemeanor, including:
- Two charges of murder
- Two charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, with enhancements for fleeing the scene
- Two charges of hit-and-run resulting in death
- One charge of vehicle theft
- One misdemeanor charge of driving without a license, with enhancements for causing great bodily harm to particularly vulnerable victims
Layla’s mother, Melissa Vallejo, stated that her daughter was riding her bike home after visiting her uncle when she was struck. The family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help with funeral expenses.
Walker is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Wednesday, according to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office.
