BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — One person died after an off-road vehicle crash near Highway 178 that caused a fire Sunday night.
The Bakersfield Police Department reported they received a call around 8 p.m. about a crash in fields south of the 11000 block of Highway 178. Upon arrival, officers found firefighters extinguishing a fire caused by the accident that also spread to nearby grass.
One adult died at the scene. Two others were ejected from the vehicle and suffered minor to moderate injuries; both were transported to Kern Medical.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
