Arvin Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Two Vehicles on Wheeler Ridge Road
SANTA MONICA, CA (March 19, 2024) — A distressing incident late Friday night resulted in the death of Carlos Ibrahim Perez Zamora, a 24-year-old man from Arvin, after he was hit by two vehicles on North Wheeler Ridge Road.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to reports of a pedestrian down near the intersection with Sycamore Road at approximately 11:42 p.m.
The preliminary investigation indicates Zamora was near the edge of the southbound lane when he unexpectedly stepped into the path of a Toyota. The Toyota’s driver attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to prevent the impact. Following this initial collision, Zamora was left lying unresponsive on the road.
A second vehicle, a Honda traveling at about 55 miles per hour, soon approached the scene. Despite the driver’s efforts to avoid Zamora, the Honda also struck him. Both drivers involved in the incident stopped and stayed at the location until authorities arrived.
