Blaze Engulfs Bernard Thrift Store

BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 25, 2024) — Early Thursday morning, a three-alarm fire was reported at Bernard Thrift Store, located at 20 Bernard Street in Bakersfield.
Firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene before 6 a.m., where they were seen combating the blaze from the building’s roof. Battalion Chief Tim Ortiz of the Bakersfield Fire Department stated that the fire originated outside the store but quickly spread inside, causing extensive fire and smoke damage.
Despite the heavy load of combustible material inside the thrift store, firefighters successfully contained the fire within the building, preventing further escalation. The cause of the Bakersfield thrift store fire is under investigation by the Bakersfield Fire Department’s Arson Unit.
