HESPERIA, CA (May 3, 2024) — In Hesperia, a distracted driver compounded a pre-existing accident scene by crashing into the wreckage of an earlier collision, resulting in hospitalizations. The cyclist, who was struck while crossing outside of a designated crosswalk, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a trauma center.
While authorities were handling the scene, a Toyota Camry driven by a distracted individual collided with the stationary Avalanche as its driver was retrieving items from the vehicle. This second crash led to minor injuries for the drivers of both the Avalanche and the Camry, as well as the Camry’s passenger; all were taken to a hospital for treatment.
No law enforcement officers were injured in the Hesperia double car crash. Details regarding potential influences of alcohol or drugs, as well as possible charges for the distracted driver, have not been disclosed.
