Driver Killed in Suspected DUI Crash Near Placerville
PLACERVILLE, CA (July 21, 2024) — A fatal crash involving a suspected drunk driver occurred near Placerville on Thursday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened shortly after 9 p.m. on Country Club Drive near Los Santos Drive. A 2017 Ford truck left the roadway and struck trees in the front yard of a home.
The driver, a man in his 30s who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the truck, also a man in his 30s, was wearing a seatbelt and escaped injury. Authorities have not released the driver’s identity.
