Ex-Archbishop Mitty Star Drew Gordon Dies in Car Crash

(May 31, 2024) — Former Archbishop Mitty basketball standout Drew Gordon, older brother of Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon, died in a car crash near Portland, Oregon, on Thursday. He was 33.
A San Jose native, Gordon led Mitty to three West Catholic Athletic League championships and was the Mercury News Player of the Year in 2007. He graduated in 2008 as a McDonald’s All-American before playing college basketball at UCLA and New Mexico.
Although Gordon went undrafted by the NBA in 2012, he played nine games with the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2014-15 season. He spent most of his professional career playing in Europe and the G League, retiring in 2023.
The Nuggets posted on X Thursday night, expressing their devastation: “Drew was far too young to leave this world, but his legacy will forever live on through his three beautiful children and all of his loved ones. Our hearts are with Aaron and the Gordon family during this extremely difficult time.”
Gordon is survived by his wife, Angela, and three children.
