Fatal Crash in Arden-Arcade Following Red Light Violation

SACRAMENTO, CA (May 2, 2024) — A severe collision in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento County resulted in one fatality and one injury Wednesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident occurred before 9 a.m. at the intersection of Watt and El Camino avenues, involving two vehicles.
The fatal crash in Arden-Arcade was triggered when one of the vehicles ran a red light, leading to a head-on collision. Subsequently, one of the cars continued moving and struck a light pole, which resulted in the death of the driver. The other driver sustained minor injuries and self-transported to a hospital for treatment.
CHP is currently investigating to determine which vehicle was responsible for running the red light. The area around the crash site will remain closed pending the arrival of the Sacramento County coroner and there is no set time for when it will reopen.
