FRESNO, CA (May 6, 2024) — A tragic incident occurred near Fashion Fair Mall in northeast Fresno, where a woman was killed and a man critically injured following a hit-and-run collision. Fresno police are actively searching for two men believed to be involved in the incident.
The sequence of events began before 9 p.m. on Friday when police attempted to stop a car near Gettysburg Avenue and First Street for driving without headlights. The driver evaded police, speeding into a residential area and eventually jumping the curb into a park near Santa Ana Avenue. It was here that the vehicle struck a man in his 30s and a woman before fleeing the scene. The car later crashed into a pole near Thesta and Santa Ana avenues, and the occupants fled on foot.
The woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while the man was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
