Fatal Hit-and-Run on Capital City Freeway in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA (June 3, 2024) — A hit-and-run on Capital City Freeway in Sacramento resulted in the death of one person Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. near Exposition Boulevard. Authorities reported that a Nissan Altima was rear-ended by a Toyota Corolla, causing the Altima to crash into the center median. The driver of the Corolla fled the scene but was later apprehended at a hotel and arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The driver of the Nissan was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries. Unfortunately, the female passenger in the Nissan succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
CHP is continuing to investigate the incident, and no additional details have been released at this time.
