Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 in San Jose
SAN JOSE, CA (March 29, 2024) — A tragic incident on Highway 101 in San Jose claimed the life of a pedestrian in the early hours of Thursday.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident occurred south of Old Oakland Road around 3:40 a.m., involving a vehicle with two San Jose women and a male pedestrian.
Following the collision, the man was urgently transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. Efforts to confirm his identity and notify relatives are underway. The conditions at the time were noted as “cool and wet,” following Wednesday’s scattered showers across the Bay Area.
The driver of the vehicle sustained moderate injuries, and the car’s right-side windshield was significantly damaged. Despite the severity of the incident, both occupants of the car, who were confirmed to be wearing seatbelts, were not arrested.
