Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Hwy. 99 Prompts Investigation
MODESTO, CA (April 18, 2024) — A tragic incident occurred on Highway 99 near Modesto when a man was fatally struck by a car on Tuesday, reports the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. near Hatch Road as the man attempted to cross from the east shoulder to the center median while pushing a bicycle.
Authorities say the man entered the path of a northbound Volvo sedan, leading to the deadly collision. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Volvo was unharmed.
