Father Sues LA County DCFS for $65M After Toddler’s Fentanyl Overdose
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 27, 2024) — Montise Bulley, the father of a 17-month-old boy who died from a fentanyl overdose, is filing a $65 million lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). He alleges that a visitation supervisor was present when his son, Justin Bulley, ingested the lethal drug.
Justin was at home with his three siblings and the supervisor’s three children during a supervised visit with his mother on February 18, 2024. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death as “effects of fentanyl.”
Attorney Brian Claypool claims the supervisor left the home when paramedics arrived and that prior incidents involving Justin’s mother, including a previous fentanyl overdose and a DUI crash, were ignored. Law enforcement found fentanyl in the systems of Justin’s siblings and the supervisor’s children.
DCFS spokesperson Shiara Davila-Morales declined to comment on the Justin Bulley fentanyl overdose case. The Lancaster office of DCFS handled the matter.
