Five Hospitalized Following Two-Car Crash in Roseville
ROSEVILLE, CA (July 22, 2024) — A catastrophic two-car crash in Roseville on Sunday afternoon resulted in five people being hospitalized.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred just before 3 p.m. at the Eureka Road offramp from eastbound I-80. Dale Benjamin, 52, of Antelope, was driving a 2017 Nissan Frontier at high speed when he lost control on the interchange from southbound Atlantic Street to eastbound I-80.
The vehicle crossed a median separating the I-80 on-ramp from the Eureka Road off-ramp and collided with a 2020 Hyundai Palisade driven by 43-year-old Ryan Penano of Rancho Cordova.
The impact caused the Palisade to roll over. Benjamin’s Frontier continued across the off-ramp lanes, struck a metal guardrail, and went down a steep embankment.
Benjamin sustained major injuries, while his passenger suffered moderate injuries. Penano and his two child passengers also received major injuries. All five were taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment. CHP noted that all parties were wearing seatbelts and that the cause of the car crash in Roseville is under investigation.
