High-Speed Chase With Big Rig Truck Ends in Blaze
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 22, 2024) — In a dramatic turn of events Wednesday night, a stolen tractor-trailer led California Highway Patrol (CHP) on a high-speed chase starting from Bakersfield.
The pursuit, which began on the southbound 5 Freeway, saw the big rig weaving through traffic and reaching speeds up to 70 mph before making its way onto the eastbound 134 and 210 Freeways toward San Bernardino County.
The high-speed chase with big rig truck reached a critical point in Claremont, where CHP deployed a spike strip, effectively halting the vehicle by deflating the front tires. However, the situation escalated in Rancho Cucamonga when the big rig caught fire, leading to the driver’s abandonment of the vehicle and subsequent arrest.
