Motorcycle Crash Closes Northbound 405 Freeway for Hours

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, CA (August 2, 2024) — A fatal motorcycle crash early Friday morning led to the closure of all northbound lanes on the 405 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley. The incident, involving at least one other vehicle, was reported shortly after 2 a.m. near Nordhoff Street in Los Angeles’ North Hills neighborhood.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) confirmed that one person died in the crash but has not yet identified the victim. Details regarding the cause of the crash have not been released.
A Sigalert was issued shortly after the 405 Freeway motorcycle crash, resulting in the closure of all northbound lanes to allow for investigation. The freeway remained closed for about four hours. Caltrans crew were then called to remove the cones, and the Sigalert was canceled at 6:34 a.m., reopening the lanes.
