Four people were injured in a violent crash in Ventura on Saturday afternoon, which left one vehicle pinned against a retaining wall and another overturned, authorities said.
The crash happened just before 2 p.m. at the intersection of Loma Vista Road and North Victoria Avenue. Police and fire crews arrived to find a pickup truck on its side and an SUV wedged between a retaining wall and a parked car in a driveway. Two people inside the pickup truck were able to escape on their own, but the two occupants of the SUV were critically trapped.
Ventura City Fire Department stabilized the SUV and used the Jaws of Life to extract the trapped victims, completing the rescue in under 30 minutes. All four individuals were transported to a hospital for treatment, though their conditions remain unknown.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the Ventura car crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
