YUBA, CA – A crash involving an SUV and a semi-truck caused major traffic delays on Highway 99 south of Yuba City on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The collision happened around 1:30 p.m. at Highway 99 and Hull Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 77-year-old man driving an SUV turned onto northbound Highway 99 from Hull Road and was struck by a semi-truck.
The impact sent both vehicles onto the southbound side of the highway, causing the SUV and one of the semi’s trailers to overturn.
The SUV driver was taken to the hospital with major injuries, while the truck driver was unhurt. Authorities said DUI does not appear to be a factor. The SUV vs semi-truck crash near Yuba initially shut down both directions of Highway 99 at Obanion Road.
