
INGLEWOOD, CA – At least eight people were injured on Saturday afternoon when a customer drove a vehicle into a CarMax store in Inglewood, California, in what police are investigating as an intentional act.
The crash occurred around 2:03 p.m. at the dealership on South La Cienega Boulevard. According to the Inglewood Police Department, the suspect had been inside the store before exiting, getting into a silver Subaru, and ramming the building. Surveillance footage shows the vehicle reversing into the entrance before turning and driving out through another doorway.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department reported that among the injured, two individuals sustained critical injuries and were transported to area hospitals. CarMax confirmed that both employees and customers were among the victims, all of whom were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The company stated that the suspect had visited the dealership to have his car appraised before the incident. Following the crash, the driver left the scene and later surrendered to authorities at a Los Angeles Police Department facility. He was taken into custody and booked at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, facing multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon.
The branch has temporarily closed the location as investigations into the Inglewood CarMax crash continue.
