A fatal collision happened in the San Fernando Valley on the evening of March 18 as a high-speed crash involving a box truck and a vehicle resulted in one death, according to surveillance video.
The incident reportedly occurred just before 7 p.m. in the 8700 block of Lankershim Boulevard near the 5 Freeway in Sun Valley.
Video from a nearby business captured a silver two-door coupe traveling northbound on Lankershim Boulevard losing control and veering into southbound lanes, where it was struck by a large box truck.
The impact generated a dense cloud of smoke and sent debris flying as the coupe spun in the opposite direction; at least one tire came off before it careened into a pickup truck parked at the curb. Moments later, the box truck collided with several parked vehicles along the busy street.
A heavy police and fire presence soon arrived on scene as onlookers gathered, and authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash in San Fernando Valley.
