Authorities in Pasadena are investigating a fatal incident that combined a car crash with a shooting late Wednesday night. Officers responded to calls from the 700 block of Rio Grande Street after reports of a collision.
Upon arrival, police discovered a crashed vehicle along the north curbline containing a 19-year-old man from El Monte. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body and was unresponsive at the scene.
First responders from the Pasadena Fire Department attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead on arrival.
The shooting and car crash in Pasadena is being treated as a suspicious death. Detectives from the Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery and Homicide Unit, along with the LA County Department of the Medical Examiner, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
