A major traffic incident occurred just before 11 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of North Monroe Street and Cherrystone Drive, when an SUV, after colliding with another car, ended up on the sidewalk and slammed into a fence.
Two women, both pedestrians, sustained life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for emergency care. No injuries have been reported among the vehicle occupants.
In response, police closed North Monroe Street in both directions from Sunny Vista Drive to Peachtree Lane while investigators worked to determine what caused the SUV crash in San Jose.
The San Jose Police Department is continuing its investigation and will release further details as they become available.
