
A man remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Thursday night.
Police said the Merced County collision happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Business Park Way when a gray Nissan, attempting to avoid the pedestrian, hit the man, who was wearing dark clothing and walking in the roadway.
Emergency responders airlifted the victim to a hospital in Modesto for urgent treatment. Investigators have stated that preliminary tests indicate the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
