SACRAMENTO, CA — The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has launched an investigation after a serious truck crash in Sacramento involving a semi-truck and three other vehicles near the interchange of Interstate 5 (I-5) and Highway 50 in Sacramento.
The incident, classified as a major injury crash, involved a large commercial truck and at least three passenger vehicles. As a result of the collision, three of the far-right lanes remain blocked, causing significant traffic delays for northbound drivers.
Caltrans has confirmed that traffic in the area has been reduced to only three open lanes, heavily impacting flow through one of Sacramento’s busiest corridors.
At this time, authorities have not released information on the number or condition of the injured individuals. There is no estimated time for when the closed lanes will reopen. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and take alternate routes while cleanup and investigation efforts continue.
Truck-involved accidents like this are becoming increasingly common at key Sacramento interchanges such as I-5 and Highway 50, underscoring the need for extra caution when driving through these major traffic zones.
