
SAN DIEGO, CA – An MTS bus driver died Wednesday morning after suffering a medical emergency while driving northbound on State Route 163, just past University Avenue in San Diego.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. when the 60-year-old driver lost control of the bus and crashed into a guardrail. The collision temporarily blocked the on-ramp to SR-163 from University Avenue.
The driver was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. No injuries were reported among the passengers, and authorities have ruled out drugs or alcohol as contributing factors.
The driver’s identity has not yet been released, and the investigation into the crash on SR-163 is ongoing.
