
BAKERSFIELD, CA — A 42-year-old pedestrian suffered serious head injuries after being struck by a Toyota pickup in Oildale on Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash happened around 8:47 p.m. at the intersection of North Chester Avenue and Roberts Lane. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The victim was rushed to Kern Medical with major trauma.
CHP officials confirmed that alcohol and drugs were not a factor for the driver. It remains under investigation whether the pedestrian was under the influence at the time of the crash.
