LOS ANGELES, CA – A serious car accident early Tuesday morning shook the San Pedro neighborhood of Los Angeles, leaving a juvenile hospitalized and hundreds of residents without electricity.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a white sedan lost control and slammed into a power pole on Pacific Avenue, setting both the car and the pole on fire.
Firefighters arrived to find the juvenile injured on the street. The victim was rushed to a hospital in unknown condition, and it remains unclear whether they were driving or riding in the vehicle.
The impact of the San Pedro crash was so severe that the pole snapped in half, damaging a transformer and several streetlights. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) reported that more than 2,000 homes initially lost power, though by 8 a.m. the number had dropped to 55 as crews worked to restore service.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash, and no additional injuries have been confirmed.
