
SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, CA – Early Monday morning, a trailer caught fire on the 5 Freeway in San Fernando Valley, igniting nearby vegetation and causing significant traffic delays.
The fire broke out around 5 a.m., just north of the 405 Freeway, when the trailer caught fire on the right shoulder, forcing the closure of three lanes. Flames quickly spread to surrounding brush, affecting at least half an acre, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The truck driver was able to detach the trailer safely and was unharmed. Aerial footage showed firefighters containing the flames and preventing further spread.
The trailer crash on the 5 Freeway caused major traffic disruptions, particularly near Granada Hills, impacting commuters during the early morning hours.
