CALIFORNIA – A police chase in Newport Beach that ended in Boyle Heights resulted in the arrest of a man accused of attempting to kidnap his partner and a child in Southern California.
According to the LAPD, the incident began Thursday night when the suspect allegedly prevented the woman and the minor from leaving a home. Hours later, officers located him in Newport Beach, sparking a chase that extended into Los Angeles County.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) joined the pursuit along the 101 Freeway. Around 1:30 a.m. Friday, the man abandoned his vehicle in Boyle Heights and tried to flee on foot, but officers tracked him to a residence and placed him under arrest.
The suspect now faces charges of kidnapping and evading police. Authorities have not released details about the condition of the woman or the child involved.
