VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES – A deadly night in Van Nuys ended with one woman dead and two drivers under arrest after a suspected DUI crash at the intersection of Burbank Boulevard and Van Nuys Boulevard.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the collision happened around 1:45 a.m. when a Honda reportedly ran a red light and slammed into a Mercedes. A 22-year-old passenger in the Mercedes died at the scene, while three passengers in the Honda were rushed to the hospital with unknown injuries. The Honda’s driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).
Neighbors say that stretch of Burbank Boulevard often feels like a dangerous racetrack at night. “Almost every night you see cars racing up and down. I don’t know what the solution is, but these are the consequences,” said a resident.
During the ongoing investigation, another driver went through the police tape at the crash site. That driver did not hit anyone but was also arrested on suspicion of DUI.
