FONTANA, CA – A tragic traffic accident on I-15 Freeway claimed the life of a motorcyclist and forced the temporary closure of all northbound lanes just south of Sierra Avenue on Monday night.
According to reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred at approximately 6:51 p.m. in the number 1 lane. Witnesses stated that the rider was found lying on the roadway, unresponsive.
Emergency crews arrived minutes later and located the motorcyclist with severe injuries. At 7:03 p.m., the San Bernardino County Fire Department pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The collision prompted CHP to issue a SigAlert at 7:30 p.m., causing heavy traffic delays that lasted nearly two hours. While lanes 1 and 2 remained closed for emergency response, lanes 3 and 4 were gradually reopened until traffic was fully restored at 7:45 p.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is still unclear if other vehicles were involved. The identity of the deceased will be released once next of kin have been notified.
