COVINA, CA — A deadly crash early Friday morning on the 10 Freeway in West Covina left one person dead after a vehicle burst into flames.
The incident happened shortly after 3:45 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near the Pacific Avenue off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the victim was trapped inside the burning car and did not survive.
Authorities are still working to determine whether the fire was caused by a collision, as vehicle debris was scattered across the freeway.
The CHP issued a SigAlert, shutting down the Pacific Avenue exit for several hours while investigators examined the scene.
The identity of the person killed in the fiery crash in West Covina has not been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
