LOCKEFORD, CA – On Monday morning, a car crashed into a duplex in Lockeford at the intersection of Elliott Road and Church Street, frightening two families inside the home.
According to witnesses, the crash happened around 8 a.m. and was described as a loud “boom” that shook the entire building. Resident Ashley Cervantes said the noise terrified her young children, who began screaming in fear.
Another resident, Misty Hipsher, recalled being jolted awake by the impact while sleeping in with her daughter during fall break: “I jumped out of bed thinking, ‘What happened?’”
The driver, a young man traveling southbound on Elliott Road, appeared disoriented after stepping out of the vehicle. Neighbors explained that the road is busy, and they often park their cars in specific spots to shield their homes from potential crashes.
A large cactus in front of the property may have prevented the car from causing even more damage to the home. Thankfully, no one was injured in the accident.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating the cause of the crash and has not confirmed whether the driver will face any citations.
