MONTCLAIR, CA – A fight that began at a north Montclair restaurant Monday night ended in a fatal crash in Montclair outside the Buena Vista Arts-Integrated Magnet School and a subsequent kidnapping, according to the Montclair Police Department.
The conflict involved a suspect and three people — two men and a woman — prompting the suspect to chase them in a vehicle. During the pursuit, the suspect rear-ended the victims’ car, causing it to lose control and crash into a tree on San Bernardino Street.
The driver of the crashed vehicle was found unresponsive and later died at a hospital. His identity has not been released. The male passenger escaped on foot.
The female passenger was kidnapped by the suspect following the fatal crash in Montclair, taken to Ontario, and later managed to escape and call 911. She was treated at a hospital.
Police stated the incident does not appear to be random, as all parties involved knew each other. The suspect remains at large, and no description is currently available.
