BAKERSFIELD, CA — A car accident in Bakersfield left a driver trapped and hospitalized after suffering a sudden medical emergency, local authorities reported.
The accident occurred on Thursday afternoon when officers from the Bakersfield Police Department responded to the 900 block of Espee Street following reports of a two-vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers found both vehicles heavily damaged, with one driver trapped inside the wreckage.
Bakersfield Fire Department personnel worked to free the driver, who experienced a sudden medical emergency once rescued. The driver was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, though their current condition has not been confirmed.
The other driver was unharmed and fully cooperated with authorities during the investigation. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), alcohol, drugs, and speeding are not believed to be factors in the crash.
