EL CAJON, CA — Two people were hospitalized following a wrong-way driver crash on State Route 67 in El Cajon, California, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The collision occurred around 1:00 a.m. near Fletcher Parkway, when a red car traveling the wrong way collided with a black pickup truck. Footage from the scene shows two individuals being taken to local hospitals by emergency crews.
It remains unclear where the vehicle entered the freeway in the wrong direction, though the El Cajon Police Department reported receiving multiple 911 calls about the dangerous driver.The CHP continues to investigate the crash and whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident.
