San Pedro, CA — A woman was arrested early Sunday after driving the wrong way and causing a crash on the Vincent Thomas Bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The collision happened around midnight on State Route 47, forcing a full closure of the westbound lanes. Authorities reported that the driver was traveling in the wrong direction for reasons still unknown when she collided head-on with another vehicle.
One person was injured and transported to a hospital with minor injuries. A bottle of vodka was found inside the suspect’s vehicle, though CHP has not confirmed whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The wrong-way crash in San Pedro remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, as officials continue to determine the cause of the incident that could have ended in tragedy.
