
BAKERSFIELD, CA — A 32-year-old man from Sacramento died in a single-vehicle I-5 rollover accident early Friday morning, October 31, just north of Lerdo Highway.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a 30-year-old woman was driving a Toyota FJ Cruiser northbound at around 70 mph when the vehicle began swerving erratically between lanes. The SUV eventually left the pavement and rolled over onto the shoulder of the highway.
The front-right passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. A one-year-old girl in the back seat was unharmed. The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Kern Medical.
CHP confirmed that all occupants were wearing seatbelts and that the child was properly secured in a car seat. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
