
RANCHO CORDOVA, CA — A pedestrian died Saturday night after being struck along Folsom Boulevard in Rancho Cordova.
According to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, the victim was identified as Cory Donald Swope, 52, a resident of Rancho Cordova. The fatal crash occurred in the 11000 block of Folsom Boulevard, between Mercantile Drive and Mine Shaft Lane.
The driver involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities during the investigation, said Sgt. Amar Gandhi, spokesperson for the Rancho Cordova Police Department. Officials stated that impairment does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the pedestrian accident in Rancho Cordova and remind both drivers and pedestrians to stay alert and cautious on heavily traveled roads like Folsom Boulevard.
