HUNTINGTON PARK, CA — A robbery suspect caused chaos Tuesday morning in Huntington Park after leading police on a high-speed chase that ended with a violent crash into an innocent family’s vehicle.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the pursuit began around 11:13 a.m. when officers connected the man to a robbery or burglary that had taken place in downtown Los Angeles. Although officials did not release further details about the crime, the suspect’s attempt to flee quickly turned dangerous — he drove a white SUV at speeds of over 80 mph, ran multiple red lights, and sped into oncoming traffic, putting countless lives at risk.
The police chase in Huntington Park came to an end when the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a Honda sedan carrying a family near the intersection of Gage Avenue and Malabar Street, just a short distance from Middleton Street Elementary School.
Miraculously, no one in the sedan suffered serious injuries.
The teen passenger later shared that his family had just purchased the car one day before the crash — now completely totaled.
After the collision, the shirtless suspect abandoned his SUV and tried to hide in a nearby garage, but police officers quickly followed and took him into custody within seconds.
Authorities say the LAPD is continuing to investigate the suspect’s possible connection to other robberies in the area.
