CAJON PASS, CA — A serious truck accident in Cajon Pass early Wednesday morning led to the full closure of the State Route 138 (SR-138) connection to southbound Interstate 15 (I-15), prompting a SigAlert and causing major traffic delays in the area.
The incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. on November 5, 2025, when a semi-truck reportedly lost its brakes, ran through a stop sign, and overturned near the Shell gas station at the SR-138 offramp, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
When officers arrived, they found the tractor-trailer on its side, with part of its load scattered across the roadway. The impact also knocked down a light pole and exposed copper wiring, creating an additional safety hazard.
The driver became trapped inside the vehicle, and several Good Samaritans tried to assist before emergency crews arrived. The extent of the driver’s injuries has not yet been confirmed by CHP.
At around 9:34 a.m., CHP issued a SigAlert, fully closing eastbound SR-138 and the connector to southbound I-15. Caltrans District 8 reported that the closure remains in effect as crews continue guardrail repairs and cleanup operations.
Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes and expect significant delays while recovery work continues in the area.
