FRESNO, CA — A major semi-truck crash in Fresno left hundreds of residents without electricity and caused significant damage in the area.
The crash happened at the intersection of Maple Avenue and American Avenue, where the California Highway Patrol received a call around 2:36 a.m. reporting that two semi-trucks had collided head-on.
When officers arrived, they found a gas tanker truck and an empty semi-truck with a trailer, both with severe damage. An electrical pole was also destroyed, contributing to a power outage that left 326 residents without electricity, according to PG&E. The utility company estimated the arrival time for repairing the pole to be around 7:00 a.m.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries, with one transported to the hospital. A fuel spill was also reported, but could not be cleaned up until the trucks were removed from the scene.
